They demolished a decrepit old house on the corner of Irving and 7th Streets, NE, I think they're going to use that land for the condo, but I dont' know! This is the view I see when I exit my parking lot, so I'll keep you posted!

May 30, 2011 Billy Goat Trail

On Memorial Day, a super-hot and supper-sunny day reminiscent more of mid-July in DC, than the last weekend in May, the Mister and I went for a hike on the Billy Goat Trail (A and B) near the Old Angler's Inn in Cabin John, Maryland. It was pretty, and hot.

While my regular studio, Quiet Mind, is in Columbia Heights, I supplement classes at Yoga District, which has three locations - Dupont Circle, Mid-City and Bloomingdale. I like to mix it up, and this night I went two two classes in a row (a reboot with Amy Dara) and then an awesome flow class with Kat K. The Dupont Yoga District is on the 5th floor of a skinny historic building, above a Bikram studio. So, while it's not technically hot yoga, it becomes defacto hot yoga.

Maybe because it was after two and a half hours of yoga, but the gyro I got at Zorba's after class was probably the best thing I ate all month.

New! They're converting a 4-unit rental apartment building into Condos. I don't have all of the details, but this is right across from my building. Super exciting!

The Tyvek is slowly coming off the Artspace Artist Lofts! It's hard to get a good photo, because the light is shining the wrong when when I drive by in the morning, and my evening yoga classes keep me out past sunset.

This was a neat decoration on a dated stove in a house I showed two clients in Deanwood, DC. The outside of the house had a dead raccoon floating in a garbage bin filled with water. It was the size of the kitchen that deterred my clients, who are awesome, and realistic about what and where their purchasing power will get them.

The Crabs-to-Go roadside crab shack sign says "Welcome Cruizers." Cruisers, in gay male subculture, are men who search out brief anonymous sex with other men. Crabs are a sexually transmitted infection. WELCOME CRUIZERS TO CRABS TO GO. The Mister and I thought this was hilarious. Also, the fried, soft-shell crabs were amazing.

The weekend some Christians were predicting the Rapture, I went to Assateague Island National Seashore, on the easternmost bit of Maryland, with my Mister, my friend Joseph, and his girlfriend / my friend Sarah. I don't about ascending into heaven to be wit the Almighty Father or whathaveyou, but it was the most perfect weekend, warm and sunburn-sunny. We drank beer, cooked food on fires, cooked ourselves. If there is a heaven, it's probably like Assateague Island, on that particular weekend.
