May 14, 2011 National Arboretum

May 14, 2011 Calamondin Orange
I'll be getting a tiny cutting of one of these citrus plants soon!

May 14, 2011 Rose Petals in Rain
It was a warm, but wet and quasi-rainy day when I took my out-of-town friend Becky to the National Arboretum.  It made for some pretty photos.

May 14, 2011 Capitol Column
The original columns for the Capitol building were removed to make way for an expansion of the building in the 1930s; some rich people paid for them to be placed on the grounds of the National Arboretum, like some kind of modern stone henge.  It's a little surreal.

May 14, 2011 Bonsai
Apparently, one time after being taken to the National Arboretum as a child, I became obsessed with Bonsai, and made my parents get me several baby trees to Bonsai / slowly murder.  The interest lasted about two weeks.  They still have all of the pots and wires and cutters.  My obsession is reignited, and I'm planning on bonsai-ing and/or keeping as miniature dwarfs all of my citrus trees (currently in the mail), and my jade plant/cutting (it's currently in one of my old Bonsai pots).
